Foodies across Sydney and around NSW flock to the harbour city’s oldest suburb each year for The Rocks Aroma Festival, which takes place every winter – this year, all the magic takes place between July 16-21.
Australia’s biggest coffee-themed event is a true feast for the senses. Coffee lovers and foodies with a passion for sweetness and spice will find plenty to like about this spectacular festival, which features more than 24 premier coffee roasters.
You can grab a sweet bite to go along with your coffee at one of the many vendors displaying their wares at the festival – look for sweet cakes and plenty of savoury snacks to choose from.
This is the perfect place to surrender yourself to your love of coffee – and you won’t want to miss the unveiling of the 2013 coffee mosaic, which always depicts a famous face.
While the main day of the festival is July 21, there are lots of other food and coffee-themed events in the run-up to the big day. Between July 16 and 21, a series of workshops and special events, including a ‘high coffee’ will take place in the vibrant community of The Rocks.
During your time in The Rocks, why not explore the area’s vibrant past? Often hailed as one of Sydney’s oldest and most historic suburbs, this is the birthplace of the city – 18th century explorers took their first steps ashore on this harbourside piece of land and created what is now Australia’s largest and most famous city..
Many of the buildings here date back to the 1900s and are well worth exploring. From The Rocks, you can also access the footpath over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which boasts stunning views of the famous seascape, including the Sydney Opera House.
