Inter Dominion Harness Racing

The Inter Dominion Grand Final, harness racing’s pinnacle event in the southern hemisphere, will be held at Sydney’s Tabcorp Menangle Park on March 2.

It’s the second consecutive year Sydney plays grand final host, having secured the event from 2013 – 2015. The series was traditionally held on an annual rotation between Australia and New Zealand.

Grand final day on March 2 will bring three weeks of racing and equine events to a momentous end. The 10-race program will feature seven Group 1 races and with more than $2 million in prize money and trophies at stake there are sure to be some heated sprints and photo finishes.

Off the track a different kind of race will be played out in the Lexus Fashions on the Field with over $25,000 in prizes up for grabs. Fashionistas can don their best race-day outfits and vie for the title of Best Dressed Lady or Best Dressed Gent. Both winners will be rewarded with a trip to New Zealand including $1000 spending money. Prizes will also be awarded to the best dressed children.

Inter Dominion Harness Racing

Dubbed the Melbourne Cup of harness racing, the Inter Dominion Grand Final will take place at Sydney’s Tabcorp Menangle Park on March 2.

The sport’s social calendar will also keep supporters busy ahead of the grand final. The Inter Dominion Ball will be held on February 28 at the iconic Luna Park and is the highlight of the off track events. The special guest for the evening is Australian swimmer and 2014 Inter Dominion Ambassador, Stephanie Rice. Dress up and enjoy a three-course dinner and be entertained by daring acrobatic displays by Belle Air from Australia’s Got Talent. Other social program events include the Inter Dominion Calcutta Luncheon and Breakfast with the Stars.

You can get to the race track by car –  free parking is available at Tabcorp Menangle Park – or train. The track is a short walk away from Menangle Park station with trains available from Sydney Central or Campbelltown stations. Check train timetables ahead of time.

Punters are advised to book your tickets ahead and get ready for a full program of racing, fashion and entertainment.
