The weather is warming up, making November the ideal time to get out and about and experience some of the fantastic events taking place in Sydney. Here are seven of Sydney’s not-to-be-missed events taking place in month.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) is holding a major exhibition of works from one of Japan’s leading contemporary artists with Tatsuo Miyajima: Connect with Everything from November 3 to March 5. Miyajima’s technology-driven sculptures and installations using LEDs, number counters, cyclical repetition are immersive, iconic works. This will be his first major solo exhibition in Australia.
Meanwhile, you can see works from the likes of Pablo Picasso, Lucian Freud, Henri Matisse and Louise Bourgeois at NUDE: art from the Tate collection on show at the Art Gallery of NSW from November 5 to February 5 2016, with over 100 major representations of the nude, including paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints.

See The Australian Ballet perform Act II of Stephen Baynes’ Swan Lake, ballet’s greatest love story. This free outdoor performance of world-class ballet will take place in Penrith in the beautiful surrounds of the Sydney International Regatta Centre. Bring a picnic rug and some snacks and drinks and make a night of it at this family-friendly event.
Top tip: Entry is free but places are limited, so make sure you book your tickets at the Ballet Under the Stars website.
Running since 1931, the NSW Open Golf Championship takes place in Blacktown in Western Sydney, and is one of the most prestigious events on the Australian golfing calendar. This year, competitors will play for a record prize pool of $400,000, with some of the best players in Australia competing.

The AUS-X OPEN brings together the best in Supercross racing from Australia and around the world, with two nights of racing, ‘Best Trick’ FMX and awesome entertainment. Competition will be stiff, with some of Supercross’ top racing stars going head to head for over $100,000 in cash and prizes, including Australia’s most successful Supercross racer and two time World Champion, Chad Reed, and four time World Champion, Ryan Villopoto.

Australia’s most prestigious golf championship returns to the Australian Golf Club for its 101st year, with an impressive lineup of Australian and international golfers battling it out for one of the most coveted trophies in golf, the Stonehaven Cup.

The ARIA Awards, Australia’s most significant music awards, celebrate their 30th anniversary this year, with Australia’s biggest and best music acts coming together at The Star. There’s also a week-long program of gigs, showcases, conferences and events taking place in and around Sydney. The ARIA Awards will feature star-studded performances from current and iconic artists, with very special guest appearances from around Australia and the world.
