Easter is almost here, bringing with it heaps of fun-filled festivities for the whole family. Get involved and check out some of the biggest events coming to Sydney this April.
Join the fun as the Sydney Royal Easter Show returns for another year. Held at Sydney Olympic Park, the Royal Easter Show has been close to the hearts of Sydneysiders since 1823 and is the largest annual ticketed event in the country. A celebration of Australian culture, the two-week long event will feature agricultural competitions, animal judging and workshops. There will also be live music and entertainment, vibrant market stalls and carnival rides and games for all ages.
There will be belly laughs aplenty as the annual Sydney Comedy Festival rolls into town this April. Comedians and entertainers from across the globe will perform in a wide variety of comedy shows, from skits and stand-up to circus acts and cabaret. The festival will be held in a number of venues across Sydney, including the Enmore Theatre, Giant Dwarf and the iconic Sydney Opera House.
Treat the little ones to a hugely fun Easter egg hunt in Centennial Park this Easter. Visitors can follow an exciting trail map with hundreds of chocolatey rewards just waiting to be found! There will also be a range of Easter-related activities throughout the day, as well as family photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and Easter Bilby.
During the Sydney Easter Parade, communities from around Sydney come together to celebrate one of the most important dates in the Christian calendar. Now in its 20th year, the parade will fill the streets with colour; get ready to see giant inflatable floats, vibrant costumes and stilt-walkers, all moving to the beat of a live marching band. The parade will meet at Hyde Park at 10am before marching to the Sydney Opera House.
Go colour crazy at the most colourful festival in Sydney! The Sydney Colorfest aims to bring people together by fusing EDM and house music with a burst of colour. Attendees will get the chance to throw vibrant colours over one another while dancing to some of the city’s best DJs at St Ives Showground.
Keep your eyes peeled for a vintage steal at the Sydney Antiques and Vintage Fair. This April, Sydney Town Hall will play host to antiques and vintage dealers from across Australia as they peddle everything from high-end antiques to mid-range curios. There are also be cafes and restaurants nearby for guests to enjoy a spot of lunch and chat about their favourite items.
Come and support local artists and vendors at the Makers and Shakers Market. More than 60 stallholders will be on hand selling locally made food, homewares and lifestyle products at Marrickville Town Hall. The event promises to be a fun day of shopping—especially for anyone who cares about where and how their products are made.
