As a professional photographer, I often get asked if I take photos on my weekends, and my answer is always yes. The emerald city is simply too stunning to not shoot. I’m fascinated by the sheer cliffs at Macquarie Lighthouse, best at dawn, to get there you need to drive past Rose Bay with its spectacular views across Sydney Harbour back to the city. The crystal blue waters of Bronte Baths, Bondi and Tamarama Beach are also a must.

My favourite secret spot in summer is the Andrew Boy Charlton pool near Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. The jewel in the crown, however, would have to be a ferry ride, especially on Sunday, to anywhere on Sydney Harbour. No better view can be captured than from the deck of the ferry as it comes back along the harbour towards the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay at dusk.
