Back in 2006 as a 19 year old I was offered a full-time job as an assistant to a very successful commercial photographer in Sydney. At this point in time I had no experience and had never even held a camera. I took this opportunity and after the first days work I have never looked back. Through four years assisting and shooting I gained enough experience to start my own freelance photography business.
Growing up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney I have been in and around the ocean my whole life and after buying my first camera setup I naturally began to photograph everything to do with the beach culture we live in. One thing not a lot of people know is how many elements is needed to produce quality waves – swell height, swell direction, swell period, wind direction, wind strength, tides and the formation of the sand banks. I love the challenge of monitoring all these elements and trying to put myself in the right place at the right time.
During the week I also photograph many corporate jobs and special events and spend my entire weekend photographing sport. I’m probably one of the biggest sport fanatics going around and being able to combine my two biggest passions, photography and sport, and make a career out of it is something I’m so lucky to be able to do.
