Being a qualified printer by trade I have always had a keen eye for colour, detail and fine graphic reproduction. It wasn’t until late 2012 that I brought my first Canon 60D DSLR. I had always enjoyed looking at photography but I then set about learning how to take good photo’s myself.
Landscape photography has always inspired me. Seeing nature in its full beauty is something to behold. I love the work of Ken Duncan and locally, Richard Hirst from Hirsty Photography. Most of my learning has been through trial and error, reading photography magazines & books, watching youtube tutorials and most importantly reading the cameras manual! I have also been very fortunate to have a good friend in Alexander Mayes of Alexander Mayes Photography, who has been somewhat of a mentor and always very generous with his time and knowledge.
My faith certainly plays a big part in my photography. Photography is about capturing and interpreting light. Through my photography I see the many ways in which God shines His light on this world and created such beauty for us to enjoy. I hope the images I capture and share help to portray this Light. This perspective is why I chose the name – PureLight Photography.
In Sydney we have a wealth of wonderful locations and events that provide photographic opportunities. Whether it’s our stunning coastline, iconic landmarks, historic buildings or spectacular annual events like Vivid Sydney, there is never a shortage of opportunities to get your camera out and shoot.
