Cool Yule Darling Harbour (13 June – 13 July)
Enjoy Darling Harbour’s month long Cool Yule event. The pinnacle of Cool Yule is the Winter Festival‘s iconic open-air ice rink in Tumbalong Park. Watch ice hockey shootouts and figure skating, slide down the 25-metre inflatable Thredbo Snow Slide, and see the harbour in a whole new way from inside a Lindt Lindor Zorb Ball at Cockle Bay Wharf. A fireworks display will light up the sky every Saturday night at 8.30pm.
Toy and Game Expo Sydney Olympic Park (5-6 July)
Experience this all-ages interactive toy haven in Sydney Olympic Park. The expo features big name exhibitors, including Hasbro, Mattel, Mayfair Games, and Moose Toys, as well as innovative local start-ups. Families can try out the latest toys, build lego machines, and play classic games such as Monopoly.
Tyrannosaurs Australian Museum (Ends July 27th)
The Australian Museum is a fun-packed venue for kids with a dedicated children’s program and a space for under-fives. Their Tyrannosaurs exhibition showcases the significance of the dinosaur family as newly found fossils from China and the US make their first appearance in Australia.
Pony rides in Centennial Parklands (every weekend)
Kids between the ages of 2 and 11 can enjoy hand–led pony rides in Centennial Parklands every Saturday and Sunday (as well as public holidays) between 10 am and 2 pm. School holiday horse riding camps are also on offer at the parklands’ various stables.
Lion King Capitol Theatre (Ends in August)
Disney’s landmark musical event has won more than 70 major international theatre awards. Playing at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, this family-friendly spectacle captivates fans of the classic 90s animation film, as well as children who are experiencing the Disney story for the first time.
