There’s nothing – literally nothing – quite like a monster truck show.
Monster trucks are 3 metres tall and weigh about 5 tonnes: That’s roughly the size of a small elephant! Except these trucks are on wheels, jump over obstacles and smash through barriers… imagine that!
The Sydney show is part of a world tour from the US that has already visited dozens of countries. More than four million fans see this spectacle every year, but this is the first time the mega trucks will be revving up their engines on Australian shores.
Monster Mutt, Grinder, Grave Digger and Madusa will join the line-up of trucks on show along with your favourite superhero trucks – Iron Man, Superman and Batman. Each machine has its own strengths, tricks, personalities and designs, so pick a favourite and get ready to cheer it on.
A highlight of the show is the Pit Party open from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. before the action starts. Head along to meet the trucks and the drivers, then take a walk around the racetrack. There will be plenty of autographs and photo opportunities, so be sure to bring your camera!
This is definitely one event worth packing up and visiting Sydney for, so make sure you’ve got your Sydney accommodation booked in advance: Novotel and Mercure hotels are even offering special deals for this weekend in a selection of their Sydney locations at Sydney Olympic Park, Darling Harbour and Parramatta.
You can also pop in to the nearby restaurant Abattoir Blues for a bite to eat in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere before the event – the banana bread French toast is highly recommended!
Or, for something seriously meaty and filling, plan your lunch or dinner at Ribs and Rumps Sydney Olympic Park. This iconic Aussie steakhouse on Dawn Fraser Parade serves up some of the most impressive steak meals you’ll ever have the pleasure of tasting, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to find out what sky wheelies and cyclone donuts are, now’s your big chance!
