Offering live music every night of the week, alongside a lengthy cocktail list, local microbrews and wines from around the globe, Lazybones Lounge has fast become a staple of the Inner West suburb of Marrickville. The gigs are primarily of the jazz variety and free most nights – and when there is an entrance fee, the cover will only set you back about $10.
The décor is cosy and quirky: velvet curtains, huge leather sofas, retro bar stools, grand chandeliers, old TV sets, vintage lamps and pot plants. There is even a Hare Krishna mural decorating one wall.
To eat, there’s an ever-evolving menu of street food-style snacks, from spiced lamb curry to pizzas and hot dogs.
Be sure to drop in some coin to the donation bowl to help support the musicians who perform on your way.
