My name is Kel Morales. I’m an amateur photographer and a weekend explorer originally from the Philippines and moved to Sydney in 2012.
Photography has always been my creative outlet and a way for me to relax. I work in IT during the day, and after (or sometimes before!) work, I try to squeeze in a bit of shooting just to clear my head and re-energise myself. During weekends, I would most likely be out and about exploring, discovering new places, going on adventures and taking photos.
Sydney has a lot of amazing places to explore and to take amazing photos of. From the iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, to the colourful beach sunrises, mountain sunsets, and expansive national parks –there are always interesting places to shoot.
I got more into photography last year when I became active in Instagram. I found inspiration and met new friends with the same passion for photography and adventure. Being in a community of people with different photography styles also made me try and combine different techniques. It is such a great way to learn and it allowed me to be more creative in my photos.
Landscape photography has always been my favourite. I just love capturing a moment in a place and sharing it with people, making them feel what I felt when I was taking that shot. If I am able to inspire them to go out and explore new places, then I guess I’ve done my job.
