The Library Bar
Overview
Located atop the State Library of NSW’s historic Mitchell Building, The Library Bar enjoys panoramic views of The Domain and Sydney Harbour.
Taking inspiration from other tucked-away CBD drinking dens, like those that populate the cobblestone alleyways around YCK Laneways, guests access the venue from a secret entry on Hospital Road. From there, walk down the grungy corridor and jump on the old goods lift to the observation deck. The open-air space might possibly be one of the best places in Sydney to sip on a sunset cocktail with friends.
If you’d rather sit inside, the indoors bar area is a cosy space. The baby grand piano takes centre stage, and if you’re lucky, live music will be playing during your visit.
The menu showcases the best products Sydney has to offer, with rotating taps and bottled beer ranging from Newtown’s Young Henry’s to Camperdown’s Wayward, and cocktails using NSW spirits where possible, such as Rosebery’s Archie Rose gin.
The Library Bar is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 4pm until 10pm. A limited number of tables are reserved for walk ins.
