Date My Mate brings friend-powered dating to The Den at The Chippo Hotel in Chippendale, live and in person. A single person is pitched by their best mate to a room of other singles, in a short slide deck about why they are a catch. Two single friends can also come as a pair and pitch each other. The room watches every pitch across the night in two rounds, with a bar break in the middle, then everyone mingles over drinks. There are no apps, no profiles and no swiping, just a warm, theatrical and genuinely fun night. The format took off in London and has since been covered by Reuters, CNN and The Guardian. The Chippo is a Chippendale gastropub with a lush beer garden and a live performance room called The Den, with a proper stage and professional lighting. Guests can come to pitch a mate, to be pitched, or simply to enjoy the show. It suits singles and their friends from their early twenties to late thirties.
