ANZAC Day falls on 25 April.

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance and commemoration to all Australians and New Zealanders who have served in conflicts across the globe.

The Anzac Day Dawn Services are held at 4.30am as this was about the time that the ANZACs starting arriving at Gallipoli Beach. Other services and marches are held throughout the day.

There are a variety of events you can attend in Sydney to commemorate this important day. We suggest:

• ANZAC Day Dawn Service at The Cenotaph in Sydney's Martin Place, beginning at 4.30 am.
• ANZAC Day March featuring veterans and the general public walking in honour of those who have served. The march begins at 9am at the intersection of Martin Place and Elizabeth Street.
• ANZAC Sunset Service Ceremony at the Cenotaph, Martin Place at 5pm.
• ANZAC Commemoration Service at ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park.

In Sydney, most shops cannot open until 1pm on Anzac Day. Many stores will remain closed for the whole day. Be sure to check the opening hours before your visit.

There are lots of wonderful events on in Sydney to celebrate Australia Day including:

• Attend Australia Day Live in Circular Quay featuring musical performances and fireworks.
• Watch the famous Sydney Harbour ferries race in the Ferrython. Keep exploring Darling Harbour to see the 190th Australia Day Regatta, Tall Ships Race, Harbour Parade, and Working Harbour Vessel Display.
• Welcome the sunrise with projections on the Sydney Opera House during the Dawn Reflection and a traditional Aboriginal smoking ceremony at the Wugulora Morning Ceremony in Barangaroo Reserve.
• Challenge yourself with a 1, 2.5 or 5-kilometre swim at Sydney Harbour Splash.
• Visit the Mega Kidz Zone at the arrivals hall of the Overseas Passenger Terminal.
• Cheer on the world's best wheelchair track and road athletes at the Oz Day 10K.

Australia Day fireworks are typically held at 9 pm.

Australia Day is the country's official national day, marked on 26 January every year. In years when 26 January falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the public holiday is moved to the following Monday.
