Overview
Black Card Cultural Tours invites you to "Explore Country, one walk at a time". This Aboriginal-owned business features experiences led by First Nations guides – who offer vital insights on Indigenous history, art and perspectives as you step through the city.
Warrane: Sydney's Aboriginal Story begins with a Welcome to Gadigal Country and a smoking ceremony at the Customs House forecourt, covers the Aboriginal civil rights movement and showcases landmarks such as the bara sculpture by Waanyi artist Judy Watson: a 6.4 metre marble version of the fish hook Gadigal women used to catch seafood in nearby waters for millennia.
The Birra Birra: Barangaroo Aboriginal-Led Public Art Walk celebrates First Nations culture in compelling ways: you'll witness wide-ranging works, from eleven eagle rays handstitched by Torres Strait artists from kilometres of fishing lines to Mikala Dwyer's floating sculptures inspired by Barangaroo – the powerful Cammeraygal woman this area is named after – and the many Indigenous women who've traditionally harvested seafood in these waters.
