Bell, Bilpin, and the Bells Line of Road

Bells Line of Road was a traditional Aboriginal pathway across the Blue Mountains, which the Darug people showed to Archibald Bell in 1823, 8 years after the Great Western Highway opened. It is a much more hilly and more winding than the Great Western Highway, and is the preferred choice of Sydney's motorcyclists. Returning to Penrith on the Bell Lines about 30 minutes longer than retracing our path back down the Great Western Highway, but if you have the time, its great to finish the trip along the road less travelled.
