St. Marks Anglican Church

The church and rectory are historically significant for their ability to demonstrate the early residential development of Granville between 1880 and 1930, as they were built to serve the growing Anglican community of Granville in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century.
The foundation stone of Saint Mark's church was laid in 1882. The architect was the famous Edmund Blacket, who designed many important New South Wales churches.
Saint Mark's displays many beautiful examples of Stained-Glass windows, many attributed to Alfred C Handel, of Lyon Cottier & Co. A branch of the London Firm Cottier & Co. decorated the finest public buildings, private houses, and churches. Also, Ashwin & Falconer, a stained-glass manufacturing company formed by Frederick Ashwin and John Falconer in 1877, that worked on many of Sydney's most significant buildings. Both company’s outstanding in the art of stained-glass manufacturing and design.
