Traces of Light
Overview
A solo exhibition by artist Christine Choi exploring colour and abstraction through emotion and memory.
This exhibition explores colour as a language of seeing, feeling, and remembering. The abstract paintings are not representations of specific places or objects, but expressions of inner landscapes, moments of energy, rhythm, and emotion translated into form and hue.
The artist is interested in how the world might appear if vision were altered: reduced to a limited palette, softened into blurred outlines, or refracted through unseen filters. In this imagined space, colour moves beyond surface description to become emotion, sensation, and presence. Each canvas is an exploration of perception, revealing not only the world, but the hidden patterns seen.
The works are bold, layered, and luminous, inviting viewers into an open dialogue with colour itself. Rather than guiding a single interpretation, the paintings awaken personal memories, moods, and sensations, acknowledging that everyone experiences the world through own shifting filters.
At its heart, this exhibition is about discovery: of unexpected harmonies, inner resonances, and the ability of abstraction to move us beyond the visible into the deeply felt. It is an invitation to slow down, breathe with colour, and rediscover the joy of seeing anew.
