Old Growler

Underneath Kings Cross's iconic Coca Cola sign, hidden downstairs in an exposed concrete basement, is the Old Growler. Beer is the focus at this Euro-inspired bar – both on the menu and in the glass. Local brewers such as Newtown's Young Henry's take centre stage while an eclectic mix of cloudy cider, ale and stout are also available. The European menu has a distinctly British feel, featuring dishes such as beer bread and salty pork scratchings. The kitchen is also dedicated to sustainability, which means that spent grains from Young Henry's brewing process will help raise the beef that is served in the bar, and the spent yeast from the beer making process is used a starter for their house-made bread.
