Free things to do in Sydney
Sydney city has plenty of things to do with the kids that cost absolutely nothing - even the 555 shuttle bus is free within the city centre. Spend a day at the beach, enjoy a game of cricket in a local park or walk across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Wander through a a 30-hectare oasis of tropical plants, green lawns, ponds and shady trees overlooking the harbour, the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney. Join the daily, free guided walk or follow a self-guided, themed tour. From the gardens, head to the Art Gallery of NSW nearby where the kids can have fun at free performances on Sundays exploring art through drama, storytelling, music and mime. The National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour has fascinating displays of dugout canoes, jet-powered hydrofoils and an historic collection of naval vessels. You can take the kids for free on select days.
Sydney Olympic Park.has many great attractions for the whole family, most of them free. Walk or cycle through wetlands to the bird hide, enjoy a picnic or take your bike for a spin along the cycle tracks. Check out Lake Belvedere, the Peace Monument, a huge sundial and the many water features.
