Astral Restaurant

 

When you want to go to the top of the food chain, you can’t get much higher than Astral Restaurant in Sydney’s famous Star City.

Astral serves up magnificent fine food with a French influence and it comes with panoramic harbour views on the side.

 

 

 

Reach for the stars with entrées like the Shaw River mozzarella, white anchovy, speck & treviso salad; or a very fancy take on the Dr Seuss favourite, green eggs & ham with 62 degree hen’s eggs, jamón Iberico de Bellota Grand Reserva, and duck fat toast.

The food sensations keep on coming when main course arrives. The bouillabaisse of seafood with rouille & croutons is hearty and oh-so French, while the two cuts of Angus beef, the tenderloin & daube, go perfectly with Yorkshire pudding and smoked potato purée.

There’s Tate and Lyle treacle tart with sheep’s milk yoghurt sorbet; apple and blackberry soufflé with bird’s custard ice-cream; and the beautifully fragrant cheese trolley that’s just begging to be eaten.

Kick off with starters like the cold smoked petuna ocean trout served warm with black pepper oil, poached quail eggs, brioche butter toast, fennel cream broth, and organic seeded lavosh. If you like your sweet & savoury together, you’ll love the caramelised pear and jamon tortellini with shaved jamon curado-serrano, confit pear, salad & jam, jamon crust, warm truffled honey, and crushed walnuts.

For main course, it’s got to be a toss up between the crisp fried scallops and roasted garlic prawns served with bread crust, preserved lemon, smoked eggplant, red pepper jam, organic yoghurt, and za’atar spice dressing; and the twice cooked pork belly with glass crackling, royal gala apple & Madagascan vanilla marmalade, and apple balsamic toffee.

 

 

 

Cap off your night with sweets like the winter pear and rice pudding carnaroli with egg custard cream, nutmeg, cloves, roasted hot pears, and pear toffee; or the delectable grand cru chocolate flourless cake with velvet ganache, golden syrup, and jelly & crumble crunch.
