Sydney north day trips

For $2.50 per person, your family can enjoy a fun day out with unlimited travel on Sydney's buses, trains, ferries and light rail every Sunday. There are plenty of things to do with the kids north of the city centre, all accessible by public transport. Use Family Funday Sunday’s budget tickets to head to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park or eat yum cha in Chatswood.

Have a day out at Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches. Take the family to Palm Beach for a surf, swim or walk along the beach and have lunch at one of the casual local cafes or fish and chips on the beach before heading back to the city. Hop off the L90 at Newport for a drink and snack at the Newport Arms Hotel, which features a family-friendly beer garden and outdoor playgrounds.  Some of the peninsula’s other great beaches on the L90 route are Dee Why, Narrabeen and Avalon beaches.

Manly has many diversions for family day-trippers on the beach and harbour. Follow the beachside walk to Shelley Beach, a lovely sheltered swimming spot perfect for families, take a shark tunnel tour at Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary or rent a bike and cycle along the dedicated bike track to Fairy Bower.

Take the 135 bus from Manly to the Quarantine Station and book a family ghost tour if you're looking for something different, entertaining and fun to do with the kids.
