Beach lifestyle at Mosman

There are plenty of water sports for the whole family around Mosman and Balmoral. Try snorkelling in sheltered waters, sailing or a dive course at Chowder Bay where you may be lucky enough to see tiny sea horses.

Mosman

Positioned on the harbour and with several Sydney beaches to choose from Mosman is a great place to sample a range of water-based activities.

With gentle currents and enclosed swimming areas, Balmoral Beach is a safe place to swim, even though lifeguards do not patrol the area. Sample the fine dining at the Bathers’ Pavilion or grab some fish and chips to eat on the beach.

Be sure to cross the footbridge off Balmoral Beach to Rocky Point and walk along the foreshore which offers views of Sydney Headlands.

Learn to sail at Balmoral Sailing School or hire a kayak for an afternoon on the water. The bay is a great place to go wind surfing because it’s protected from stronger ocean currents by the cliffs that surround the area.

Go on the walk from Balmoral Beach to Chowder Bay and learn about Sydney’s military heritage while enjoying magnificent views of the headlands and Sydney Harbour.

The former Chowder Bay naval base now hosts the only scuba diving school on Sydney Harbour and is a great place to learn how to dive.

Nearby Sirius Cove is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets and the walk from here around Sirius Point and Whiting Beach to Taronga Zoo is well worth the effort.
