About

The Hotel Altamont is a small, centrally located boutique hotel, managed by 8Hotels, minutes from Oxford Street and the city, and with easy access to the harbour, beaches and airport.

Modelled on the first Government House the original building was built in 1830 and was one of a handful of private mansions constructed at that time on the Darlinghurst Ridge looking back toward the newly established town of Sydney.

The hotel features an extensive roof garden with city skyline views, a large gazebo style guest lounge. Some of the rooms open on to a tiny sheltered courtyard area; an ideal place for that first coffee of the morning.

In the late 1970s the famous Cauldron Nightclub was established in the basement of the building and the Loft Suite of the hotel was once the VIP Room for the nightclub.

The Altamont is proud to be a pet-friendly hotel.
