Kolkata Social is a celebration of Bengali food from ex-Firedoor chef Ahana Dutt. Flavours run the gamut from tangy tamarind that forms the base of the chilli-spiked potato salad; or mellow coconut and cumin mixed through with soft lentils; or the spicy, caramelised kosha curry made with goat slow-cooked on the bone. Kolkata Social is a Plate it Forward group restaurant. Like all the social enterprise's venues, a meal at Kolkata social buys two meals for people in need – one in Sydney, one overseas.
