Garden Palace Gates
Overview
As you walk up Macquarie Street, see one of the last remaining reminders of the Garden Palace which once stood in the Botanic Gardens. The enchanting Garden Palace was purpose-built to house the Sydney International Exhibition but after the fair it continued to be used for government offices, the occasional event, and a government repository for records and a cultural store. The Garden Palace burnt down on 22nd September 1882.
