Love to shop? Sydney shopping has it all, from luxe labels and home-grown fashion to buzzy markets and outlet tours. So if you’re looking for a dose of retail therapy, here are a few places to start.

In the city centre, Westfield Sydney has set the pace for sensational shopping. As well as Zara and Gap, you’ll find four floors of fashion favourites. Stroll through the historic Queen Victoria Building and Strand Arcade, as popular for their beautifully restored interiors as they are for the fabulous fashion boutiques featuring local and international brands.

Castlereagh, Elizabeth and King streets host the world’s most famous designer brands, including Chanel and Gucci, while Australia’s two largest department stores, Myer and David Jones, have all the top brands as well as a stylist to help you choose the best outfit. You'll find Top Shop on the corner of King and George streets.

Inner Sydney’s shopping precincts have their own individual sense of style.Paddington's Oxford Street is the most well-known, with two kilometres of funky boutiques and high-street fashion. Just off Oxford Street is The Intersection on Glenmore Road where you'll find the best Australian labels.  Other fashion hot-spots include Military Road in Mosman, Crown Street in Surry Hills, Queen Street in Woollahra and Darling Street in Balmain.


Sydney’s shopping precincts

Sydney’s favourite inner-city shopping precincts include funky Surry Hills, stylish Paddington, chic Woollahra and street-hip Darlinghurst. Balmain has a unique home-grown style, while Newtown is edgier and great bargains can be found.

If you love shopping, you’ll find Sydney has plenty of fabulous shopping experiences. And don’t worry about budget - Sydney is famous for giving label lovers and bargain hunters a shopping fix to suit all tastes. 

In the Sydney city centre, stylish department stores, sleek shopping centres such as the Westfield Sydney, specialty boutiques and historic shopping arcades are all within a few blocks of each other. The historic Strand Arcade and Queen Victoria Building are great places to start.

Chic international brand boutiques, fashion houses and accessory designer stores can be found along King, Elizabeth and Castlereagh streets and around Martin Place. High street shopping extends into fashion hot spots close to the city such as Oxford Street in Paddington, Campbell Parade at Bondi and Military Road in Mosman.

You’ll be able to admire the work of local Australian designers – from Collette Dinnigan and Akira Isogawa, to Josh Groot and Lisa Ho. Don’t miss stocking up on Aussie swimwear – best brands include Seafolly, Tigerlily and Zimmerman.
