Find your own piece of Sydney’s unique summer style in the flagship boutiques of Australia’s best local designers. If you love designer shopping, head over to Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Paddington, Bondi, Newtown or the city centre for fabulous one-off clothing, shoes and accessories.
At 100 Squared at Westfield Sydney, eleven emerging designers have been plucked from various market stalls and housed under one roof in a 100 metre square cube. It’s a one-stop-shop for creative design.
The Corner Shop, in the Strand Arcade and Paddington, has a fabulous collection of coveted local labels. McLean & Page in Manly offers some of the latest favourites, including Josh Goot, Therese Rawsthorne and Camilla & Marc. And fashionistas will love Incu in Paddington for their local mens’ and womens’ designer ranges. In Newtown, Romance Was Born and Friedrich Gray at Pretty Dog are just two of the best for local fashion.
Sydney has produced many world-famous designers, including Sass & Bide, as worn by Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker, Lisa Ho, Zimmerman, Nicole Finetti and Leona Edmiston. But nothing says Sydney summer quite like a Camilla Franks kaftan – as worn by Oprah in front of Sydney Opera House in 2010 and available from her Bondi Beach store.
Emerging designers at Sydney’s markets
Paddington Market has long been regarded as the place to launch a fashion career, and you’ll find fresh design talent here every Saturday. As well as fabulous fashion, you’ll find stylish ceramics, homewares, art and accessories – great for Christmas gift shopping. Bondi Market is well worth a browse on Sunday mornings, for summer-styled dresses, silky tops and one-off jewellery.

Quirky boutiques offer a hand-picked collection of local and international design. Some of the best include Bloodorange in Elizabeth Bay, Poepke in Paddington and Alfies Friend Rolf in Darlinghurst.
Local design for the boys
Fashion-conscious men should head to Meanwhile Store in Elizabeth Bay for old-school style, St Augustine Academy in Surry Hills for an indie vibe, or The Cloakroom for tailor-made chic.
Finders Keepers Markets
Twice a year, the Finders Keepers markets take over Carriageworks at Redfern for a fabulous design-fest of Australian and New Zealand talent. Make sure you catch the next one for stylish Christmas shopping.

Sydney is indisputably a fashionista's dream, with a wealth of local designers opening boutique stores and market stalls to showcase their array of clothing, shoes and accessories.
