Head outdoors during summer in Sydney, as the world’s elite athletes participate in annual Sydney sporting events that range from tennis to cricket, sailing to golf.

There’s no better spectator event than the blue-water classic, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, when the greyhounds of the yachting universe start their sprint to Hobart on Sydney Harbour on 26 December.

For the first time in Australia, the world’s best surfers took to the waves at the Australian Open of Surfing in February at Manly Beach. Known as the birthplace of surfing, Manly has now become home to an exciting annual display of surfing, skating, music, fashion and art during the week-long event.

And each summer, the Sydney Cricket Ground treats fans to the ongoing battles between leading cricket nations that include test matches and one-day international finals.
