Golf with a view
Sydney is the place for golf with spectacular scenery, with vibrant greens, cliff top courses and panoramic ocean views par for the course. From the Eastern Suburbs courses to the clubs of the Northern Beaches, you’ll be hard pressed to find settings more idyllic than those found around Sydney.
Tee off in Sydney
Spending a day practicing your swing in the fresh air and sunshine? Sydney is the perfect destination for a golfing getaway. And you don’t need to journey too far from the city to tee off. Head to Moore Park Golf Course, an 18-hole course which is part of Centennial Parklands and home to the Sydney Golf Academy. Nearby Eastlake Golf Course is located near Sydney Airport, open to members and the public and has scenic views of the city skyline. Or journey east to Bondi Golf Club, a challenging 9-hole course overlooking the ocean.
Sydney’s south east boasts some of the city’s best golf courses, with some top views to match. Bonnie Doon Golf Club is one of the oldest in Australia, and features slick undulating greens and and elevated tees with city views. Nearby Randwick Golf at Malabar is open to the public most days and overlooks the sea. And St Michael’s Golf Club and The Coast Golf Club are both very highly regarded, and overlook Botany Bay.
On Sydney’s Northern Beaches you’ll find Long Reef Golf Club. Golfing great Peter Thomson, who won the British Open five times, has described Long Reef and its dramatic coastal views, as ‘the best site of any golf course in Sydney'. It’s not hard to see why, with spectacular views all the way from Manly to the south and Central Coast to the north. Nearby Palm Beach Golf Course sits between the Pittwater and Palm Beach and has a championship-level layout overlooking the Northern Beaches.
There are also golfing tours available. LuxGolf and Platinum Pro Golf Tours offer tailored, personal tours to the top courses, with access to the most exclusive clubs. Or if you’re in the city and haven’t got time to get out on the green, try Golf in the City, which has six state-of-the-art golf simulators.
Golf near Sydney
You’ll find some excellent golf courses just a few hours' drive from Sydney. Play a round of golf with vineyard views in the Hunter Valley, which boasts several championship courses with excellent food, wine and luxury accommodation.
The Katoomba Golf Club and the Leura Golf Club in the Blue Mountains meanwhile provide a great day on the green combined with breathtaking scenery. Or head south to Gerringong Golf Club, for a game of golf on the vibrant green cliffs overlooking the sea in the South Coast.
There are also some excellent golfing experiences to be had upon the beautiful landscape of the Murray River's golf courses. Enjoy a meal by the water on one of the celebrated courses after you've tested your skills on the green.
