Golf in Sydney and beyond

If you're idea of heaven is spending a day practicing your swing in the fresh air and sunshine, Sydney is the perfect destination for a golfing getaway. Whether you're staying in Sydney or travelling further afield, you'll find plenty of excellent golfing options.

Golf in Sydney Golf in Sydney requires extra concentration. You’ll need to ignore the allure of fine beaches and ocean views and focus on the ball. The city has many golf courses, including a nine-hole course with views over Bondi Beach. Visitors are welcome at many golf courses in Sydney and at other NSW destinations, such as the Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands. Teed Up and Platinum Pro Golf offer tours to top courses. Sydney HeliTours has helicopter rides to excellent courses on the Central Coast and in the Hunter Valley. If you are in a hurry, Bondi Golf Club’s short course may be just the thing. Or, just minutes from the city centre, is Moore Park Golf Club, part of Centennial Parklands. Eastlake Golf Club is an 18-hole course near Sydney Airport with views of the city skyline. On the city’s northern beaches is Long Reef Golf Club at Collaroy. Golfing great Peter Thomson, who won the British Open five times, has described Long Reef, with its dramatic coastal views, as the “best site of any golf course in Sydney.” Resorts in the winegrowing Hunter Valley have championship golf courses set among the vineyards. Three popular courses are Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club, the Greg Norman-designed Vintage, and the Hunter Valley Golf and Country Club.

Golfing at Belmont Golf Club, Lake Macquarie

Just a few hours' drive from Sydney are some excellent golf courses in regional NSW. If you're partial to a chilled glass of wine at the end of a game, the Hunter Valley has several championship courses with picturesque scenery, excellent food, wine and accommodation. The Katoomba Golf Club and the Leura Golf Club in the Blue Mountains provide a great day on the green combined with breathtaking scenery and a range of other recreational activities.
