The Blak Markets is a great chance to buy locally made gifts and products directly from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who made them in the knowledge that the profit goes back to Indigenous communities.
The day will begin with a smoking ceremony followed by live music, dance performances, workshops and traditional Indigenous games for children. Ngaran Ngaran traditional dancers will run dance workshops for children and adults and Larry Brandy Storytellers will present interactive hunting and gathering performances for children.
A live bush tucker cooking demonstration will be hosted by celebrity chef, The Black Olive as well as Jody Orcher - who will both also be running their own food stalls at the markets alongside local Aboriginal food producers the Tribal Warrior and Sandpiper Cafe.
The Blak Markets is organised by First Hand Solutions, which is an Aboriginal charity dedicated to providing hands-on solutions to issues faced by Indigenous people.
Barangaroo Reserve is easily accessible by bus, ferry or train. Parking is also available under Barangaroo Reserve via the entry at Towns Place.
