City Centre Events

Sydney’s city centre encompasses Darling Harbour, picturesque Circular Quay, the bustling CBD (Central Business District), the grand old buildings of Martin Place, the busy streets of Chinatown and Haymarket, and the peaceful grounds of Barangaroo, Hyde Park, the Domain and the Royal Botanic Garden. Its high concentration of entertainment venues, museums, galleries and public spaces means that the city centre’s events calendar is packed with everything from local markets and musical productions to Vivid Sydney, an annual festival of light, music and ideas.

Sydney events offer something for everyone, whether it’s an exhibition opening in a hip area on the city’s fringe, or a world-renowned musical playing in the heart of the city. On weekends, you’ll find local markets in The Rocks, Paddington, Bondi, Glebe, Rozelle, Domain and North Sydney. During the week, attend a gig at one of Sydney’s friendly pubs, or perhaps catch an improv show at one of the city’s comedy venues.
