Location: Bar Cleveland is located in the centre of Sydney’s popular Surry Hills dining scene, on the corner of Cleveland and Burke Street.
Details: Bar Cleveland is a friendly local establishment with years of experience catering to the Sydney bar and dining scene. A simple, warm and comfortable décor welcomes you in, offering lounges where you can always pull up an extra ottoman and high tables to enjoy a weeknight meal with close friends or the family. The under bar lighting gives the place a retro edge and creates a centrepiece that brings the room together. Serving unadorned modern Australian pub fare for as little as $10 a main, Bar Cleveland’s bistro menu fills a niche for relaxed a la carte cuisine amongst the more exotic flavours that Surry Hills has become known for. With a vintage Australian charm that echoes its own heritage history, this establishment has emerged as a venue offering excellent value pub fare, not only dishing up delicious lunches and dinners but breakfast as well.
Profiled by degroots media: On occasion, everyone hankers for some downright good pub-inspired fare and while Bar Cleveland is known for being a top local watering hole, it also has a terrific bistro filled with many tempting dishes as well as those predictable favourites we all love. The bar itself is typical of Sydney art deco charm spruced up with some modern touches that add comfort and atmosphere. In no time, you’ll want to grab a stool or a couch and tuck into a Cleveland beef burger or some piping hot chilli con carne; the perfect accompaniments to a cleansing ale or a glass of Merlot. Upstairs has been stylishly revamped and, while you can order sharing plates and meals up there, mind you don’t get in the way of the salsa dancers on Monday and Thursday nights.
Chicken quesadillas are made using flat tortillas with char-grilled chicken, mozzarella and spicy salsa then topped with a second tortilla and grilled to perfection. These prove to be a hot option for those looking to share a little something while sipping on their tipple. The mezze platter is also great for a group of friends and boasts a tasty selection of dips, olives, chorizo and haloumi served with grilled pita bread. This bistro, while tapping into other culinary corners of the world, has brought the ever-popular beef and Guinness pie back into vogue. For those late risers, breakfast is ironically served from 12pm daily, except Sundays when they start cracking the eggs at 10am. With a menu that serves up quality feel-good food, Bar Cleveland satisfies those pub-grub cravings with pizzazz that is worthy of a cheers.
