Location: On the left-hand side of Kent St, between Liverpool and Bathurst Streets. In walking distance from Darling Harbour and Sydney Town Hall.
Details: The restaurant is a heritage-listed site that has been refurbished with Japanese-inspired furnishings, and architectural design features, to create a serene dining enclave in the city. The restaurant offers three main dining areas overlooking a beautiful Japanese garden, private yet atmospheric rooms for larger groups, and a bar where guests can enjoy a pre-dinner drink before their meal. Every room also features pieces from Tetsuya's eclectic art and ceramic collection, from delicate Japanese porcelain to bold Australian sculptures.
Food & beverage: Tetsuya’s cuisine is centred on the Japanese philosophy of using natural seasonal flavours that have been enhanced by classic French technique. The constantly evolving 11 course degustation menu features well-presented, refined dishes that include the likes of potato soup with coddled quail egg and avruga, followed by sashimi of kingfish with blackbean and orange. His signature dish of confit Petuna ocean trout served with shaved fennel and unpasteurised ocean trout caviar is an absolute treat that holds a fixed and coveted spot on the menu. It may be followed by spanner crab with bean curd, foie gras and junsai or a seared loin of tender venison with salt-roasted beetroot. Desserts are creative and flavoursome with the likes of hay-infused ice-cream with sorrel granita, and other wonderfully peculiar combinations like chocolate pave with chai mochi. Tetsuya’s offers a comprehensive and carefully composed wine list that resident sommeliers can easily match to your meals to compliment their seasonal flavours.
Functions: Tetsuya's has 6 private dining spaces that can accomodate for a variety of social and corporate functions. All areas are flexible, with the smallest space catering for 10-16 people and the largest for up to 60 guests.
