Sydney Events

Sydney is a hub of activity with a diverse selection of events taking place throughout the year. Thanks to its thriving arts scene, Sydney’s galleries and exhibition spaces play host to a number of public events and exhibitions. Sydney also boasts the largest free sculpture exhibition in the world, Sculpture by the Sea, which transforms the scenic Bondi to Tamarama Coastal Walk into a two-kilometre-long display of creative works from around the world.

Sydney’s events also offer the chance to get involved in a range of cultural festivities, such as the Sydney Comedy Festival and the Sydney Film Festival, the latter of which has a legacy stretching back to 1954, making it one of the oldest events of its kind in the world. When it comes to making a statement, nothing stops the city in its tracks quite like the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, or the world-famous fireworks display on New Year’s Eve. These extravaganzas are renowned across the world and are not to be missed.

As a sport-loving city, Sydney is also the home of many social and competitive sporting events. One highlight of Sydney’s sporting calendar is the Sun-Herald City2Surf. Attracting over 80,000 entrants each year, the Sun-Herald City2Surf is not only the world’s largest running event, it is also a fantastic fundraiser for dozens of charities.
