Is this the perfect Aussie bush beach? Almost two kilometres of golden sand, stretching between dense bushland and pristine ocean, Gillards is great for surfing, swimming and spotting native wildlife.
It is also fantastic for fishing, with salmon, bream, tailor and whiting all common and after dark, night jewfish and gummy sharks.
A popular campsite, Gillards is bordered by the bush and the beach in stunning Mimosa Rocks National Park. There are 70 unmarked campsites and the grounds can be accessed by caravans, motorhomes and trailers.
There’s lots of wildlife here, and at night you might spot a potoroo, a small marsupial with a long nose.
From Tathra head north on the Tathra-Bermagui Road for seven kilometres, then turn onto Gillards Road and follow the signs.
