Make sure you get tickets to some of the hottest dance, ballet and opera events when you're holidaying in Sydney. A typical Sydney Theatre Company season offers a program of Australian plays, interpretations of classics and the best of new international work. The 2013 season offers 13 productions with plenty of choice of themes - love, politics, doom, delusion, soul-searching and more. The dynamic Sydney Dance Company, with Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela at the helm, performs at Sydney Theatre in Walsh Bay. Don't miss the opportunity to see Australia's leading contemporary dance company in action in Sydney.

Opera Australia has a packed season of much-loved classics from Donizetti, Mozart, Puccini and Verdi. They include La boheme, Falstaff, La traviata and Tosca. For this first time, Opera Australia performed on a floating stage on Sydney Harbour in 2012. With the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge as backdrops, the magnificent spectacle of Verdi’s La traviata was performed on a purpose-built stage floating on the harbour. In 2013, it was the turn of Bizet’s Carmen, once again performed on Sydney Harbour; in 2014, Puccini’s Madame Butterfly will light up the harbour.

The Australian Ballet's 2013 season is dedicated to the jewels of classical ballet including Don Quixote and La Sylphide. Meanwhile, Vanguard brings together three master choreographers of the 20th century in a new Australian Ballet production of Cinderella.
