Sydney is home to some of the most iconic surf beaches in Australia. Couple this with Manly‘s fantastic cultural scene and you get the coolest event of the summer, the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing, from February 8 to 16, 2014.

This nine-day event brings together the worlds of surfing, action sports, skateboarding, music, art and fashion. Artists, sportspeople and keen watchers are all welcome to join in the fun, and entry is free.

See international acts Birds of Tokyo, The Presents, Illy and Delta Riggs as some of the headlining acts for the beach party.

Last year’s surf winner, Sally Fitzgibbons, is an Aussie local and can’t wait for the 2014 event. One of her favourite parts of competing was the fact that while she was lining up to compete, she could see other athletes flying out of the skate bowl, and enjoy the atmosphere created by the thousands of fascinated fans.

Matt Banting, Australian and winner of the surfing men’s division in 2013, will also be back for more in 2014, ready to wow the crowds and give the title another shot.
