Sydney Chinese New Year Festival - Dragon Boat Races - Darling Harbour

• Saturday 20 February 2016 to Sunday 21 February 2016

The Sydney Chinese New Year Festival Dragon Boat Races are the biggest competitive event in Australia's dragon boat racing calendar, featuring 3,000 paddlers participating in two full days of racing on Darling Harbour. The professional competition is held on the Saturday and social and corporate teams race on the Sunday.

Witness the spirit and power of the dragon come alive in Sydney as 12 metre long boats, large enough to seat up to 20 paddlers, battle it out to the beating of drums. Each boat has an ornately carved dragon's head at the bow and a tail at the stern, while the hull is painted with dragon scales and the paddles represent the claws.
