From Sydney to regional NSW
From Sydney, it’s easy to travel to some of Australia's most significant World Heritage Areas that are located in regional NSW. They include the Greater Blue Mountains, the Lord Howe Island Group (off the NSW North Coast), Willandra Lakes Region (in Outback NSW), and the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia which includes the most extensive areas of subtropical rainforest in the world.
Sydney Airport
Sydney Airport is one of the oldest continually operated airports in the world and the busiest airport in Australia. It is located about 8 kilometres south of Sydney’s city centre in the suburb of Mascot.
Three passenger terminals at Sydney Airport are:
T1: International Terminal is used for international flights. It is open every day from 3am to 11:30pm. Customs are opened for departures passenger processing at 4am daily.
T2: Domestic Terminal is used by domestic and regional airlines including Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Tiger Airways. T2 Domestic Terminal is open every day from 4am to 11pm.
T3: Qantas Domestic Terminal is used for Qantas domestic flights. It is open every day from 4:45am to 10pm.
Looking for help at Sydney Airport? You’ll find help desks in both the arrival and departure halls of T1 while a commissionaire’s desk located in T3 is available to passengers needing wheelchair or other assistance.
For international passengers, trolleys are located in the baggage reclaim hall following Customs processing, and are free of charge.
Transport services such as buses, taxis, car hire, rail and shuttle bus services are conveniently located at Sydney Airport.
Travelling from Sydney Airport
The best way to travel into the city centre from Sydney Airport is with AirportLink, which runs trains between the domestic and international terminals and the city stations. Rail stations are conveniently located under the airport terminals, and a trip to the city will take around 15 minutes. A one way ticket costs approximately AUD17.00.
Another way to travel into the city centre is with a shuttle bus company, which will take you straight to your hotel or hostel. You can book online or some companies will allow you to book at the airport when you arrive. Be aware that it is illegal for drivers or their agents to approach you or to ask for a fare from you. All limousine and shuttle bus services must be pre-arranged.
If you have your International Driver’s License, a range of car rental desks is also available at the airport.
