Review: Ideal for a coffee (Rainforest Alliance certified nonetheless), cake, light snack or restaurant meal at any time of day, Revesby Workers Club’s modern Australian gem, Java Lounge, suits all schedules and appetites.
Source: Best Restaurants of Australia
Location: On the first level of Revesby Workers Club, in Sydney's western suburb of Revesby.
Profiled by de groots media: Whether you’re hankering for an early morning caffeine hit, a sugary treat to take you through a Friday afternoon, a good-quality meal in a casual setting or a break from your winning (or losing) streak at the pokies or bingo, Java Lounge can provide you with what you crave. Situated on the first floor of Revesby Workers Club, it is a relaxed, latte-coloured space that offers cafe-style dining morning and night. The atmosphere is very relaxed – just a few tables and rounded banquettes scattered on either side of a glass counter and service station.
The menu is a non-complicated mix of cafe staples like sandwiches, wraps, salads, cakes, pastries, frappes, smoothies and – of course – coffee, coffee, coffee. The Java Lounge blend has even been certified by the Rainforest Alliance, so you can help to save a piece of the world as your cappuccino will do its part to save you from falling asleep. There are also hot items which are prepared in the kitchen of the neighbouring River Cafe. These include more substantial meals like a “cevapi burger” (caramelised onions, lettuce, tomato, aioli on toasted panini bread), a Java mezze plate (loaded with all of the usual suspects) as well as a range of wood-fired pizzas. Sweet tooths are also well looked after with a few staple and a few rotating dessert options like a jumbo sundae and cookies and cream torte. The opening hours are super flexible – from 9am to 10:30pm Sunday to Thursday and 9am to 2am on Friday and Saturday– so you can head down from the club’s gym for a juice, dig into a pancake stack and plan your weekend or swing by for a coffee, milkshake or sweet, sweet carbohydrates.
