Located around an hour’s drive from Sydney, the Hawkesbury area is the perfect weekend escape. Running from Windsor to Brooklyn, the Hawkesbury is home to a range of great restaurants and cafes set amongst forests, farmland and of course, the sparkling Hawkesbury River.

A houseboat is a great way to explore the calm waters - fishing or water skiing by day and anchoring in a quiet cove at night. Further inland, the villages of Kurrajong and Richmond still maintain much of their early colonial history and offer rustic cottage retreats, and bed and breakfasts for families and couples. More contemporary accommodation can be found in the form of self-contained apartments and luxury hotels dotted throughout Wisemans Ferry and Berowra Waters.

Several retreats specialising in health, meditation and yoga can be found in the area, designed to make the most of the tranquility afforded by the forested slopes, brilliant river, and other natural attractions.

Local camping and caravan parks offer plenty of wide open space for kids to run around, ride bikes, and take a dip. Showers and barbecue facilities are also available.
