Located on Newtown’s vibrant King Street, Newtown Hotel is one of the area’s most iconic locales, serving up your pub favourites – plus much more – since 1887.

Once one of Sydney’s most famous gay pubs, the LGBTQIA+ crowd and culture is still very much alive at this proudly inclusive venue.

The two-level space has a fantastic line-up of craft beer on tap, as well as a reliable menu of pizzas, burgers and classic counter lunch fare such as chicken schnitzel, rump steak and pork rib eye. Lunch specials are available from Monday to Friday between 12pm and 3pm, and happy hour every day from 5pm to 7pm.

Pooch is welcome to come along, and the live drag shows on Saturday nights are an absolutely fabulous way to spend the evening. However, the main drawcard remains the upstairs balcony, which overlooks the hustle and bustle of King Street. Perching here with a drink in hand as the sun sets over the Inner West remains a local rite of passage.
