Cafe Freda’s is only a cafe by name. By day Freda’s operates as a casual restaurant, serving creative, Euro-Australian snacks and small plates in a pastel-coloured space dotted with modern art. Although the menu stays the same, the vibe changes into the night. DJs join the floor, drinks flow and it feels much more like a bar than a restaurant.
The bar-restaurant-gallery hybrid opened after the closure of the beloved Chippendale club, Freda’s. Just like the club before it, Cafe Freda’s brings the same inclusive, queer-friendly, community-orientated philosophy to their Darlinghurst space.
