Ham Common
Highlights
Overview
Ham Common offers arguably the best vantage point to see RAAF aircraft in flight, thanks to its close proximity to the Richmond RAAF Base. The area features a scenic 2.5-kilometre shared walk and cycleway that's just a short stroll from the base.
There's plenty to enjoy for all ages. Enthusiastic skateboarders and scooter riders will love the vibrant skate park, while families with young children can make use of the fully fenced playground complete with its very own airplane feature.
If you're into fitness, the East Richmond parkrun is held here every Saturday morning, welcoming walkers, joggers, and runners of all ages and abilities. In addition, there are outdoor exercise stations along the path, which is wheelchair and pram friendly, making it a perfect place for riding bikes, staying active, or just enjoying the fresh air.
To make your visit even more enjoyable, the park includes picnic shelters, electric barbecues, and public toilets. Prefer not to pack lunch? A café is conveniently located next to the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre.
While you're there, be sure to stop into the centre for free advice on local attractions — it's open seven days a week. You can even give them a call for personalised tips.
And yes, leashed dogs are welcome too!
