Powerhouse Parramatta Opening Festival: Caring for Water Country

First Nations knowledges are active systems of care, sustained through enduring relationships with Country, community and culture.

Join celebrated Wiradjuri journalist Rae Johnston in conversation with acclaimed Kamilaroi filmmaker Ivan Sen and representatives from the 7 First Nations-led organisations featured in Overflow – a series of films commissioned by Powerhouse for an exhibition grounded in the living principles of water country.

Participants will discuss the ecological, cultural and community-led work that underpins the exhibition, the collaborative process of creating the film commission, and what it means to care for Water Country now and into the future.

Featuring: The Baramadagal Community, Gamay Rangers, The Goondee Aboriginal Keeping Place & Museum, Jagun Alliance, Joonga Land and Water Aboriginal Corporation, Moogahlin Performing Arts, and Naru Indigenous Corporation.
