The Great River Walk long distance walking track
Overview
The Great River Walk (GRW) is a long distance walking and bicycling track proposed to follow the entire length of the Hawkesbury River system from source to mouth, a distance of 475Km. The first major stage to be opened in December joins the river side locality of Lower Portland to near the river town of Spencer. This stage combines the beauty of the Hawkesbury estuary with the World Heritage convict precinct in Dharug National Park. The stage includes accommodation, camping facilities and even a haunted pub, the Wisemans Inn. It is 50km long and can be walked in 2 or 3 days.
