Their War in Bronze and Stone Exhibition
Overview
Their War in Bronze and Stone explores the remarkable sculptures of the Anzac Memorial, revealing how art has helped generations of Australians understand, remember and commemorate their experiences of war.
The Anzac Memorial uses the human form more than any other war memorial in Australia. Created by sculptor George Rayner Hoff, these works include the magnificent free-standing work Sacrifice, the figures crowning the Memorial atop the buttresses and inset into the corners, as well as the textured bronze and stone reliefs on the exterior and the interior of the building.
Their War in Bronze and Stone interprets these sculptures and the stories they tell, exploring scenes that were once so familiar to the generation that endured the Great War of 1914-18.
The exhibition is on display in the Assembly Hall on the Ground Floor and is open every day 9am to 5pm.
Entry is free.
