The Rocks Walking Tour

Today we’ll set off on a 45-minute guided walking tour of The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest and most historic precinct. This is the very place where the First Fleet landed in 1788 and where the foundations of modern Australia were first laid. As you stroll through its cobblestone laneways and sandstone courtyards, your guide will bring to life the stories of the convicts, soldiers, and settlers who once lived here.

You’ll discover how the British established their first settlement along these shores, and hear about the challenges of survival in those early years. Along the way, we’ll point out preserved colonial buildings, such as Cadman’s Cottage, and highlight how the area grew from a rough convict settlement into a bustling waterfront hub.

The Rocks is also full of colourful tales — from rum smugglers to sailors, publicans, and everyday characters who shaped Sydney’s early story. These stories give you a vivid picture of what life was really like in the colony’s beginnings.

After the tour, we’ll reboard the coach and make our way to Bondi Beach, where Sydney’s history meets its famous coastal lifestyle.
