Jumping out of a plane not your thing? ‘Fly in Western Sydney at iFly in Penrith. Unlike skydiving, where you jump and fall, at iFly you'll experience flying on controlled, cushioned air. Anyone aged from three years old can have a go, and the experience is fully accessible to people of all physical and cognitive diversities. Simply slip on a flight suit, strap on your helmet and get some airtime in the high-tech wind tunnel with an instructor beside you. You ll get to fly twice in your session and learn to literally float on air.

Ride into thrilling waters

At nearby URBNSURF Sydney in Sydney Olympic Park you ll discover Sydney s first urban surf park. Here a 3.6ha lagoon is split in two to generate left- and right-hand waves. There are waves for all levels, with 200 generated per hour. While away the day surfing, boogie boarding, swimming then have a meal at onsite Rafi – a contemporary restaurant with lagoon views and an elevated menu.

Jet back to nature jet skiing

You ll buzz with excitement after a day out with Jetpack Adventures – there's nothing quite like rising 10 meters out of the water, powered by hundreds of litres of water. Following land and in-water training, your 10-minute flight includes guaranteed airtime and a feeling of freedom and weightlessness unlike any other.

Hit the rapids paddling

Ride the rapids of a wild ‘river at the base of the Blue MountainsPenrith Whitewater Stadium's human-made river was originally constructed for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and it challenges paddlers of all levels with 14,000 litres of water flowing per second. Depending on your level of expertise, try guided rafting with a group or a self-guided splash if you re a seasoned paddler.

Just down the road, Horizon Line offers a series of floating devices for hire: single kayaks, double kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Paddles and buoyancy vests are included, as are trolleys to help move your vessel down to the Nepean River ahead of your expedition.

Head into the sky gliding

With only the wind whooshing past and incredible bird s-eye views of the pretty Camden region, a glider scenic flight experience at the Southern Cross Gliding Club will take your breath away. Starting at Camden airport, you ll be towed up by one of the tug planes and soar over the verdant countryside for 20 to 40 minutes.

Ascend into the trees on a zipline

At Treetops Adventure in the Western Sydney Parklands, be at one with the canopy as you choose from more than 90 aerial obstacles across the Tree Ropes Courses, with varying degrees of difficulty per age and experience. Booking into the Zipcoaster (an add-on to the Tree Ropes Course, or a standalone experience), offers a rollercoaster and zipline morphed into one. The experience offers an hour of swooshing and whizzing through the air, high in the tree canopies.

Walk on water cable skiing

If you feel the need for speed on the water and don t have access to your own boat to pull you along, cable skiing is the next best thing. At Cables Wake Park in Penrith the overhead cable system pulls you around the lake, so just choose your adventure (wakeboard or kneeboard), don your helmet, grab your handle and take off. Book a Lake Session for one to two hours or a whole day – beginners can book a 20-minute or one-hour coaching lesson.
